The Handover: Your Professional Introduction
The most common question we get from newcomers is: “Do I need a license or previous experience?” The answer is a resounding no. Every holiday with us starts with a comprehensive, face-to-face handover by our expert instructors.
What to Expect on Arrival
- 1The "Static" Induction:Before we even move, we show you the ropes— literally. We’ll cover the domestic side of the boat: how the heating works, how to manage your water tank, and how the electrics operate.
- 2The Rules of the Road:You’ll learn the "Highway Code" of the canals. (Hint: We drive on the right!) We’ll teach you about speed limits—usually around v ≤ 4 mph—and canal etiquette.
- 3Hands-on Helm Training:This is the fun part. An instructor will jump on the back with you. They’ll show you how to steer, how to use the throttle, and most importantly, how to stop!
- 4Lock Logistics:If your route includes locks, we’ll talk you through the mechanics. It’s a simple system of physics and patience that hasn't changed in over 200 years.
